What Must I Do To Be Saved

The Lord wants more than anything else, to save the people that he created from an everlasting destruction. What would that be like? Everlasting destruction. That’s a Good question. We don’t have all the answers, but we do know about how to live with the Lord forever from reading his word.

This is the story about Jesus Christ at his arrival to Jacob’s Well in Sychar, Samaria.  John 4:4.

“Now he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

Living Water, WOW! Want that?

Has the Lord been talking to your heart lately about his word? Or about living water and eternal life? Do you know a person at school or at work who is a Christian, and you secretly want to be like that person? You can be! If God has been speaking to you about being saved, I say this kindly to you, then what are you waiting for?

It is important to realize the truth God has shared with us in the words of the Bible about our real condition.  Read through these Bible verses now to hear what they are saying.

Realize that all people in the world are sinners.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Realize that there is a penalty for sins.
“For the wages of sin is death.” Romans 6:23

Realize Jesus Christ paid for our sins.
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Realize that God loves you and wants to save you.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Realize that you can call on the name of the Lord and be saved.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Romans 10:13

Realize that God’s saving grace is through faith alone, given as a free gift to you by God, and is not possible to be earned by any of your own deeds.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

Can you honestly say that you believe the following statements?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin.
I believe that Jesus Christ lived a pure, righteous, and holy life, and that he taught the only truth that men need to believe to be saved.
I believe that Jesus Christ was crucified on a cross, and that his death was an atonement (the reconciliation of God and humankind through Jesus Christ) for the sins of the world.
I believe that Jesus Christ was buried in a tomb and on the third day arose from the dead.

Jesus Christ is the only answer for us. Surrender to his love today and let him save you. Go to Jesus in prayer and believe in him and you will be saved. That’s God’s promise to us.

Dear Lord Jesus,
I want to repent of the sinful life I’ve been living and ask you to forgive my sins. I have tried many times to change my ways but have never been able to. Lord, I’m tired and desperate for you, for only you have the power to change me. I need your help, so I surrender my will to you now. I believe and ask you to come into my heart right now.
Thank you Lord Jesus for hearing this prayer for accepting me as one of your own! Thank you Lord for everything you are doing now and will be doing for all the days of my life, In Jesus name. Amen.
